Graphic Organisers

Mind maps integrate right and left brain processing and overcome the limitations of working memory space. They can aid creativity, understanding and communication enabling students to see connections and grasp the "big picture".

Through clarifying ideas and showing relationships students are able to bring order to their thoughts or notes, identifying what is known and what is not.

There are three main types of organizational maps; association maps, concept maps and mind maps. They have many similarities but are used for different purposes. It is important to match the type of map to the task at hand.

This workshop guides participants in understanding these organisers, how to create their own and how to teach their students.
